Dear Fellow Republicans, Stop Policing Speech and Start Governing Before We Lose Again

Once again, my fellow conservatives, I find myself looking at our so-called leadership in North Carolina and wondering what exactly they think they’re doing with the power we gave them.
It’s infuriating. It’s embarrassing. And worst of all, it’s unconstitutional in spirit if not in letter.
Let’s break this down. On Juneteenth, the holiday marking when slaves in America finally heard they were free, the Republican-controlled NC State Senate chose that day to ram through a bill banning DEI programs in state government.
Not only that, they stuffed the day’s schedule with twenty bills and closed no doors to discussion except the ones that matter, debating real details, real facts, real solutions.
This wasn’t about protecting taxpayers from bloated bureaucracy. This wasn’t about stopping radical indoctrination. This was a theatrical performance that insulted every voter who thought they were electing people of principle.
Don’t misunderstand me. I’m no fan of DEI bureaucracies when they’re bloated and used as an ideological club. I believe in equality of opportunity, not forced quotas or identity politics. That’s what being a Constitutional conservative means: protect the individual, not the group. Protect merit, not victimhood.
But you don’t do that by writing vague, broad-brush bans that silence discussion entirely. You don’t do that by passing massive, unclear restrictions on the people’s right to think, teach, question, and debate, the very foundation of a free society.
And you certainly don’t do it on a symbolic day like Juneteenth just to send a wink to the hardline base while ignoring the fact that you’ve handed the other side an unbeatable narrative, that you’re using power to silence uncomfortable truths.
Guess what, Republicans? You are. And it’s shameful.
This is the kind of nonsense that loses elections. This is why unaffiliated voters are now the largest bloc in North Carolina. Because both parties have stopped representing common sense, constitutional balance, and real solutions.
We have too much religion in our policy. Too much extremism from both sides. No compromise. No moderation. No grown-ups left in the room.
We’re stuck fighting over bathroom bills, pronouns, and who can say what word in a classroom instead of fighting for the basic constitutional promises:
* Free speech
* Local self-government
* Personal liberty
* A small, restrained government that respects the people it serves
You don’t shrink government by growing its power to police ideas. You don’t stand for liberty by writing laws so broad they can muzzle teachers, employees, or anyone who dares to question the official narrative. You don’t protect equality by erasing any mention of the history that explains why equality matters in the first place.
Here’s my advice, from one Republican to the entire North Carolina GOP. Grow up. Focus. Govern.
Tackle real issues. Secure the elections. Defend free speech. Reform taxes. Fix our schools with real merit-based solutions, not culture war headlines.
Because if you don’t, you will lose. And you will deserve it.

I say this as a proud Constitutional conservative. If our party doesn’t wake up, the unaffiliated middle will leave us behind. And they should. Because people crave representation, not more bureaucracy telling them what words they can or can’t say.
So, to every Republican lawmaker reading this, next time you feel like writing a ban, try writing a clear, targeted, constitutional reform instead. Stop embarrassing us. Stop playing culture cop. Start acting like the defenders of freedom you claim to be.
Or step aside, because America is bigger than your fake crusades.
It’s time to Go Right.
Not just politically, but principally. Constitutionally. Fearlessly. For all of us.
